The SSL/TLS Validity Changed!
We are used to the SSL life span of 365 days!
This ended in 2026! Says the CA/Browser Forum!
The Certificate Authority/Browser Forum, or CA/Browser Forum, acts as an organization that manages a great deal of the regulation, issuance, and management of digital certificates Issuers and Certificate Consumers, which are governed by a series of bylaws to manage membership, policy, and also develop and implement guidelines that improve the security of internet transactions and activities. The CA/Browser Forum ensures that the security standards laid must be abided by to maintain the security culture.
Authority/Browser (CA/Browser) Forum made a decision recently to reduce certificate lifespans to 47 days by 15th March 2029. But to make it easier tobe accommodated by all, they planned to break it into three phases
Phase I is from March 15th, 2026, and the validity will be 200 days.
Phase II is from March 15th, 2027, and the validity will be 100 days.
Phase III is from March 15th, 2029, and the validity will be 47 days.
You can continue purchasing the yearly certificates as usual, and the issuance continue til the subscription end time. You are not purchasing a certificate every 200, 100, or 47 days. It's only the certificate validity that has been changed.
The major concern here is that the certificate will be verified again if not installed within 10 days of the re-issuance. The certificate vendors will be reissuing the certificates as they expires automaticaly. And some Control Panels can install it automatically.
Kindly inform us when you find your certificate in an expired or invalid state.
Note that you can re-ssue certificate from your client area smoothly without any issues.
